(11:45AM - 2/15/19) The expected winter weather event has started across portions of Southern Illinois late this morning, and will continue into later tonight...
An area of mixed snow/sleet/freezing rain has started to push into portions of Southern Illinois late this morning, associated with a fast moving disturbance pushing through the region. The mixed precip will expand in coverage into early afternoon across much of Southern Illinois, then continuing into tonight, before ending from west to east. Snow will be likely across most areas, with sleet/freezing rain being confined to extreme far Southern Illinois, closer to the Kentucky border and Paducah area. Periods of moderate to heavy snow/sleet/freezing rain will be possible area times across affected areas of Southern Illinois during this event. Final snowfall/sleet totals will be 1-3" in an axis across Southern Illinois, with locally higher amounts possible. Freezing rain/ice totals will be up to 0.10-0.25" across extreme Southern Illinois.
