(11:15AM Saturday - 4/30/22) As a storm system moves through the region today, a few rounds of scattered showers and t'storms move across the state, along and ahead of the associated advancing cold front. Given environmental conditions expected to be in place, some severe t'storm risk is expected with some of this activity.
With this update we have expanded the level 2 risk across a larger portion of the state. This change was made based on new information and real time observations this morning, as well as increasing confidence in the scenario that is expected to unfold.
-Much of Illinois.
-Midday today through early tonight.
-A level 1 to level 2 severe t'storm risk is in place. Isolated to widely scattered severe t'storms will be possible, posing a risk of damaging winds, hail and a few tornadoes.
