4/30/2022

(11:15AM Saturday - 4/30/22) As a storm system moves through the region today, a few rounds of scattered showers and t'storms move across the state, along and ahead of the associated advancing cold front. Given environmental conditions expected to be in place, some severe t'storm risk is expected with some of this activity.

With this update we have expanded the level 2 risk across a larger portion of the state. This change was made based on new information and real time observations this morning, as well as increasing confidence in the scenario that is expected to unfold.

Its harsh weather season in the Midwest and for plenty of us that means lookout to the weather and trying to keep away dangers. Some people, regardless, like to get into the danger. Storm chasers for example from the iconic 90’s film Twister, walk out in their vehicles, gear in drive and race down country roads all to acquire an up close view at one of nature’s most rough weather events. Illinois' Storm Chasers Act stops the contractors from checking homes for mutilation without consent, filing insurance claims, or acting as the homeowner’s representative with the insurer. Additionally, contractors cannot pledge to pay or discount all or any portion of the policy deductible.
