(7:00PM - 3/3/19) A period of cold temperatures and wind chills is likely from tonight into Wednesday morning across portions of the state. This period of cold will pale in comparison to what has been seen at times this winter, but is still noteworthy given it's now March...and could potentially threaten records for some areas.
Things will kick off tonight, with what will be the coldest temps and wind chills of the period. Low temps of 0 to -15 are likely across much of Northern Illinois, with isolated colder temps possible across Northwest and North-Central Illinois where more snow cover still exists. Wind chills of -15 to -30 will be likely across Northern Illinois. Across Central Illinois low temps will be 0 to 5, with wind chills of 0 to -20. Across Southern Illinois low temps will be 0 to 10, with wind chills of 5 to -15.
Temps and wind chills will moderate a bit for Monday into Wednesday. Highs on Monday will range from 0 to 10 across Northwest/North-Central Illinois, to the 10 to 20 across much of Northern and Central Illinois, to the 20 to 25 across Southern Illinois. Wind chills will be around -5 to -15 across Northwest/North-Central Illinois, to 0 to -10 across Northern Illinois, to 0 to 10 across Central Illinois, and 10 to 20 across Southern Illinois.
Monday night low temps will be 10 to -5 across Northern Illinois, to 10 to 20 across Central and Southern Illinois. Wind chills will be -5 to -15 across far Northern Illinois, to 0 to -10 across Northern and Central Illinois, to 0 to 10 across Southern Illinois.
Tuesday high temps will be 10 to 20 across Northern Illinois, 20- to 25 across Central Illinois and 25 to 35 across Southern Illinois. Wind chills will not be noteworthy on Tuesday.
Tuesday night low temps will be 0 to 10 across Northern Illinois, 10 to 15 across Central Illinois and 15 to 20 across Southern Illinois. Wind chills will be 0 to -10 across Northern Illinois, 0 to 10 across Central Illinois and 5 to 15 across Southern Illinois.
