11/12 Record Cold Temperatures And Below Zero Wind Chills Tomorrow...Are You Excited??

11/11/2019

Well it is finally arriving tomorrow....we have been talking about record cold temperatures on the way for nearly a week now and if you're like me, you have to be excited to shatter some records, right?! Who doesn't like extreme weather? Well that is what we are going to have tomorrow across the Midwest and here in Illinois. I dig into the latest below...
Below is a forecast loop of temperatures from 2pm this afternoon through 7am tomorrow morning. As you can see, temperatures really tank tonight with a good portion of the state getting down into the single digits has high pressure moves into portions of the Midwest, clearing out clouds to the south and east.

Those morning temperatures tomorrow ranging from the mid to upper single digits to mid teens from north to south across Illinois will also mean very cold wind chills with a decent northwest wind still the norm. Wind chill values by 6am tomorrow could be close to below zero for nearly the entire state with the lowest wind chills expected across northern Illinois, thanks to the fresh snow and clear skies helping that area get the coldest.

Below is an image showing forecast high temperatures across the state tomorrow. Again, just using Chicago O'hare Airport (circled in orange) as a reference point, it is entirely possible that the high at O'hare tomorrow is around 19 or 20 degrees and the record low max is 28 degrees so that could be a record not only broken but shattered by 8 or 9 degrees! Elsewhere, it's going to be very cold throughout the state for this time of year when upper 40's to upper 50's are more the norm from north to south across Illinois.

An updated article will be posted later this evening with more stats and records for tomorrow but don't take tomorrow lightly as this is a very very impressive early shot of record cold into the Midwest and Illinois tomorrow with really no warmth in sight. Well below normal temperatures will be the norm heading through the rest of this week.
