(10:30AM - 7/21/19) Multiple disturbances expected to move through the region will bring the chance for severe t'storms to portions of the state, through tonight.

7/21/19 - Sunday Morning-Night Forecast...

Development of scattered showers and t'storms are expected across much of Central and Southern Illinois this morning into afternoon. This activity is then expected to move across these areas through tonight. The environment in place will feature high instability, high moisture and low shear. This will help support an isolated severe t'storm threat across Central and Southern Illinois, with damaging winds and hail being the main threats.

Clusters of showers and t'storms moved across portions of Northern and Central Illinois, Saturday afternoon into night. Isolated severe t'storms occurred, with damaging winds and hail being the main occurrences.

(10:15AM - 7/21/19) A multi-day heat wave will continue to affect the state through today, with widespread hot and humid conditions are likely.

7/21/19 - Today/Tonight's Forecast...
A cold front with showers and t'storm is currently located across portions of Central Illinois. The heat wave has ended for Northern and Western Illinois, however it will continue for one final day for Eastern and Southern Illinois. High temperatures today will likely reach the upper 80's to mid 90's across Eastern and Southern Illinois, with heat index readings ranging from 95-115. The aforementioned cold front with showers and t'storms, will push southward across the rest of the state this afternoon into tonight, ending the heat wave for the rest of the state
7/17/19 - Wednesday/Night Recap...
High temperatures on Wednesday were in the upper 80's to mid 90's across much of the state, with heat indices between 90-105. Low temperatures Wednesday night were in the upper 60's to mid 70's.

7/18/19 - Thursday/Night Recap...
High temperatures on Thursday were in the upper 80's to mid 90's across much of the state, with heat indices between 95-110. Low temperatures Thursday night were in the mid 70's to low 80's across much of the state.

7/19/19 - Friday/Night Recap...

High temperatures on Friday were in the low 90's to upper 90's across much of the state, with heat indices between 100-120. Low temperatures Friday night were in the mid 70's to low 80's across much of the state.

Isolated to scattered showers and t'storms will be possible tonight for portions of Northern and Central Illinois.

7/21/19 - Sunday Morning-Night Forecast...

Isolated to scattered showers and t'storms may be ongoing Saturday morning across portions of Northern and Central Illinois. Additional development of scattered showers and t'storms will occur across Central and Southern Illinois during the afternoon, with this activity expected to persist through Sunday night. The environment in place will feature high instability, high moisture and low shear. This will help support an isolated severe t'storm threat across Central and Southern Illinois, with damaging winds and hail being the main threats. An upgrade in severe t'storm probabilities may be needed in future updates.

A cold front with showers and t'storm will be ongoing across portions of Central Illinois Sunday morning. The heat wave will have ended for Northern and portions of Central Illinois, however it will continue for one final day for other portions of Central and all of Southern Illinois. High temperatures on Sunday will likely reach the upper 80's to mid 90's across portions of Central and all of Southern Illinois, with heat index readings ranging from 95-115.

7/20/19 - Saturday Morning-Night Forecast...
Several clusters of showers and t'storms are ongoing this morning across Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin. Some of this activity will likely push into Northern Illinois later this afternoon and evening. Additional development of showers and t'storms, with upscale growth into several cluster, is likely this evening and tonight. This activity will then continue to affect Northern Illinois through tonight, and possibly portions of Central Illinois as well. The environment in place will feature high instability, high moisture and low shear. This will help support an isolated severe t'storm threat across Northern Illinois, with damaging winds and hail being the main threats. An upgrade in severe t'storm probabilities may be needed in future updates.

Several clusters of showers and t'storms will be ongoing across portions of Missour, Central Illinois and Indiana Sunday morning. This activity will continue across Central Illinois into the evening, while also spreading into Southern Illinois Sunday afternoon into night. This will help support an isolated severe t'storm threat across Central and Southern Illinois, with damaging winds and hail being the main threats. 7/20/19 - Saturday/Night Forecast...
High temperatures on today will likely reach the low to upper 90's across much of the state, with isolated temperatures around 100 possible. Heat index readings will range from 100-120 across the state. Low temperatures tonight will stay in the 70's for much of Central and Southern Illinois, with temperatures closer to 80 or in the low 80's possible for the more urban areas, such as St. Louis. A cold front, and associated rain and t'storms, will likely push into portions of Northern Illinois Saturday afternoon into night, leading to cooler low temperatures across this area...and an end to the heat wave for Northern Illinois.

7/21/19 - Sunday/Night Forecast...

The aforementioned cold front with showers and t'storm pushing across Northern Illinois later Saturday, will also push into Central Illinois beginning Sunday morning, ending the heat wave for Central Illinois. High temperatures on Sunday will likely reach the low to mid 90's across Southern Illinois, with heat index readings ranging from 100-115.

Scattered showers and t'storms will develop and/or regenerate Saturday afternoon across portions of Wisconsin, Iowa and Northern Illinois. This activity will then push across much of Northern and portions of Central Illinois, Saturday afternoon into Saturday night. Multiple waves of activity can be expected during this time-frame. The environment in place will feature high instability, high moisture and low shear. This will help support an isolated severe t'storm threat across Northern Illinois, with damaging winds and hail being the main threats. An upgrade in severe t'storm probabilities may be needed in future updates.

High temperatures on today will likely reach the low to upper 90's across much of the state, with isolated temperatures around 100 possible. Heat index readings will range from 100-115 across the state. Low temperatures tonight will stay in the mid 70's to low 80's.

7/20/19 - Saturday/Night Forecast...

High temperatures on Saturday will likely reach the low to upper 90's across much of the state, with isolated temperatures around 100 possible. Heat index readings will range from 100-115 across the state. Low temperatures Saturday night will stay in the 70's for much of Central and Southern Illinois, with temperatures closer to 80 or in the low 80's possible for the more urban areas, such as St. Louis. Rain and t'storms will likely push into portions of Northern Illinois Saturday evening and night, leading to cooler low temperatures across this area.

High temperatures on Thursday were in the upper 80's to mid 90's across much of the state, with heat indices between 95-110. Low temperatures Thursday night were in the mid 70's to low 80's across much of the state.
A ridge across the middle of the country will bring an extended period of hot and humid conditions to the state through Sunday. A southwest flow aloft will continuously pull in warmer temperatures aloft into the region. With good mixing of the atmosphere expected, high temperatures across the state will likely range from the low 90's to around across the state during the period. Thursday through Saturday look to be the hottest days of the period, with widespread high temperatures in the mid 90's to around 100 likely across the state.

​In addition to the hot temperatures, high humidity is also expected. Dew points will likely be well into the 70's much of the period, which when combined with high temperatures in the low 90's to near 100, will lead to heat indices of 100-115 during much of the period.


Low temperatures will also stay quite warm, only getting down into the 70's for much of the state during the period. However, low temperatures will likely stay near 80 or in the low 80's for urban ares, Thursday through Saturday. The St. Louis and Chicago areas are most susceptible for this.
