(2:15PM Thursday - 7/28/22) The latest NOAA drought monitor valid July 26th, 2022 continues to have portions of Illinois experiencing abnormally dry (D0) to severe drought (D2) conditions. The good news is that as with the past few updates... Drought conditions did not expand or worsen across the state, and for the third consecutive update drought conditions have improved for some areas across portions of the state, due to periods of beneficial rainfall for some areas the past several weeks.
The next drought monitor update will be on Aug 4th.

(7:45PM Monday - 7/25/22) A large ridge that has been in place much of this summer across the Inter-Mountain West, Plains and Southeast, flexed back into the region once again, bringing another push of hot and humid conditions to portions of the region and state. These conditions affected different portions of the state over a several day period, from Tuesday July 19th through Sunday July 24th.
