Hey all,
Matt here....I thought I'd share a collection of pictures I took yesterday scattered across some areas of northeast Illinois and the Chicago metro area, highlighting the very rare and significant ice storm that hit our area Monday night and early Tuesday morning. Most areas received between a quarter and half inch of ice which is the most for some across northeast Illinois since the 90's. (image below courtesy of the Chicago National Weather Service office)
Below is a variety of different shots showing the significant freezing rain/ice amounts that accumulated on trees and elevated surfaces
