Deep Summer Pattern To Continue Well Into July

(6:45PM - 6/29/20) A warm/hot, humid and at times stormy pattern is likely to continue deep into July across the region.

The past few days a new pattern has begun to set in across the country, and has increasing support to stay in place well into July, potentially even as we eventually push into mid-July. This pattern will feature a ridge across the Inter-Mountain West and Central US, with a trough across the far Northwest and far Northeast.

​This new pattern will allow warm/hot and humid conditions to the be norm across the state during this period. High temperatures the past few days, and for the foreseeable future, will be generally in the mid-80's to mid 90's across the state on a daily basis. Also, humid conditions are expected, with dew points likely to be in the upper 60's to upper 70's on a daily basis. The temperature and dew point combination will lead to high humidity and hit heat index values, likely reaching the mid 90's to mid 100's on several occasions. In addition to the heat and humidity, periods of stormy conditions will also be possible. The first stormy period kicked off this past weekend, and will likely continue into Wednesday. Beyond this time, any small/subtle waves that top the ridge in place or get trapped under the ridge, may provide stormy conditions at times. While no widespread severe t'storm or flooding activity is expected at this time, this deep summer pattern will support localized flooding during any stormy periods and a stray severe t'storm at times.
