(9:30PM - 7/25/20) A short duration period of hot and humid conditions continues to affect the state and region, and will continue to through Monday.
Summary.... A strong ridge is briefly building into the region this weekend, allowing for a brief push of hot and humid conditions. While this will not be a heat wave by our standards, it is noteworthy enough to discuss. The most widespread hot and humid conditions will be through Sunday across the state, when high temperatures well into the 90's and heat index values in the mid 90's to mid 100's are likely. FrMonday will serve as fringe/ending day, with only portions of the state being affected with tempered conditions.
Forecast For Next Two Days...
Sunday, July 26th Forecast... High temperatures will range from the upper 80's to mid 90's across the state. Heat index values will be in the low 90's to low 100's across the state as well. Low temperatures in the mid 60's to mid 70's will be common across the state. Scattered showers and t’storms will be possible across portions of Northern Illinois, tempering the heat for some areas. Monday, July 27th Forecast... High temperatures will range from the mid 80's to low 90's across Southern Illinois. Heat index values will be in the mid 80’s to mid 90’s across Southern Illinois as well. Low temperatures in the low 60's to mid 70's will be common across the state. A “cold” front moving across the state will usher in cooler temperatures and lower humidity, ending the heat episode across Northern and Central Illinois. Scattered showers and t’storms will accompany the front, across portions of Central and Southern Illinois.
