Summary... A storm system will move through the region Friday and Saturday, bringing periods of snow and another snow event to Northern and Central Illinois. Model guidance has been showing the potential for this event for the past several days. There had been a lot of disagreement, but that has narrowed with time, with now decent overall agreement regarding this event. With this update we have increased expected snowfall totals, as confidence increases.

Periods of snow will spread across Northern and Central Illinois, midday Friday through Saturday evening. Periods of moderate to heavy snow will be possible at times during this period. Across Northeast Illinois near Lake Michigan, some lake effect/enhancement to the snow is likely to occur. What's Expected... Final snowfall totals upwards of 2-5" are expected in corridor across portions of Northern Illinois, with amounts tapering with southward extent into Central Illinois. Below is the snowfall forecast for this event.
