(11:45AM - 1/13/22) A winter storm is expected to move through the region Friday through Saturday. This winter storm is expected to produce a swath of accumulating snow across the region, including into the western half of the state.
Summary... Over the past several days model guidance has been honing in on the potential for a winter storm to affect the region and state, Friday through Saturday. With time model guidance has slowly come to a consensus on things, now with fairly good agreement regarding track and strength of the storm system, along with positioning of the snowfall axis and snowfall amounts. A storm system will move from the Plains on Friday, through the Lower-Mississippi Valley on Saturday afternoon, and then into the Southeast on Sunday. This winter storm is expected to bring a swath of accumulating snow into the western half of the state, Friday afternoon through Saturday afternoon.

Snow is expected to spread southeastward across the western half of the state, Friday evening. Snow is then expected across these areas from the onset Friday afternoon and evening, through Saturday morning, before ending with time by Saturday afternoon. Snow intensity will vary from light to moderate at times, with snowfall rates up to or in excess of 0.5" per hour at times. Snowfall totals upwards of 1-3" to 2-5" are expected across the western half of the state. Below is the snowfall forecast for this winter storm.
