Fri-Sat, Jan. 25-26th Snow Event Update #2

(10:45PM - 1/24/19) A fast moving and weak clipper system is still expected bring a period of snow to portions of the state from around mid-day Friday into very early Saturday morning.

Afternoon and evening model guidance has come in with a slightly further north track of this system, but continues to show consistent light snowfall amounts for the main snowfall axis. The main axis of snow will move into Northwest and Western Illinois around mid-day on Friday, with snow spreading into much of Northern and Central Illinois during the afternoon. This period of snow will last several hours, eventually ending from west to east Friday night into very early Saturday morning. Snow intensity with this event will remain light, with snowfall accumulations across the heart of the state ranging from 1-3".

Further north, snow showers or light snow is possible Friday afternoon into Friday night across far Northern Illinois, near the Illinois/Wisconsin border. Further south, snow showers or light snow is possible across Friday evening into very early Saturday morning across portions of Central Illinois, near/south of I-72. Across these two areas, snowfall accumulations will likely only be a dusting.
