(9:45PM - 1/2/20) A weak and fast moving disturbance will bring the chance for light snow to portions of the state, Friday evening through Saturday afternoon.
The only significant change this update was to expand shift the snowfall area south a bit, as model guidance through the day has come in further south with this disturbance. An area of precipitation and associated disturbance will be dropping southeast through the Midwest on Friday. Precipitation in the form of a mix will first enter Northwest Illinois Friday evening. This precipitation will then spread across portions of Northern and Central Illinois, starting as a mix, before changing to snow. This snow will then continue Friday night and into Saturday morning. Some snow may linger across Eastern Illinois into Saturday afternoon. This will be nothing more than a nuisance "event", with only a dusting of snow expected for affected areas. It should be noted than even though a widespread area is expected to see a dusting of snow, amounts will not be uniform, given the scattered nature of the expected snow. Below is the TAM snowfall forecast for this "event".
