(12:00PM - 1/3/20) A weak and fast moving disturbance will bring the chance for light snow to portions of the state, this evening through Saturday afternoon.
An area of snow and associated disturbance is currently dropping southeast through the Midwest. The area of snow will first enter Northwest Illinois early this evening. This area of snow will then spread across portions of Northern and Central Illinois, tonight through Saturday morning. The southern edge of the snow shield may actually be a mix, across portions of Central Illinois. Some mixed precipitation may linger across Eastern Illinois into Saturday afternoon as well, as the disturbance departs the area. This will be nothing more than a nuisance "event", with only a dusting of snow expected for affected areas. It should be noted than even though a widespread area is expected to see snow, amounts will not be uniform, given the scattered nature of the expected snow. Below is the TAM snowfall forecast for this "event".
