Fri-Sat, June 26-27th Severe T'Storm Event

​​(9:30PM - 6/24/20) A storm system is expected to move through the region Friday and Saturday, bringing a severe t'storm threat to portions of the state each day. 

Synopsis...
Isolated to scattered showers and t'storms will likely develop and move across portions of Northern and Central Illinois Friday morning, along a warm front quickly advancing across the state. In the wake of this early activity, clearing and destabilization will likely occur. New development of scattered showers and t'storms will occur Friday afternoon, across portions of Wisconsin, Iowa and Northwest Illinois. This activity is like to grow upscale into one or more lines, pushing southeastward across Northern and Central Illinois, Friday afternoon into Friday night. The environment expected to be in place will feature moderate instability, good moisture, good shear and good forcing. This will lead to upwards of a limited (level 2) severe t'storm risk across Northern and Central Illinois. Large hail and damaging winds being the main threats. Trends will continue to be monitored for the potential for an upgrade in severe t'storms probabilities in future updates.

A severe t'storm threat will likely exist in some capacity across Central and Southern Illinois for Saturday. This will be discussed more in future updates.
