Fri-Sat, June 26-27th Severe T'Storm Event Update #5

(11:45AM - 6/27/20) Multiple disturbances moving through the region through today, will continue to bring a severe t'storm threat to portions of the state through tonight.

This afternoon - tonight...
Weakening clusters of showers and t'storms have been ongoing this morning across Central and Southern Illinois, and adjacent states. Some of this activity has re-generated with some additional new scattered showers and t'storms having developed as well. Additional new scattered showers and t'storms are expected to develop across the state and adjacent states through the day. All of this activity, in the form of several clusters, will move across Central and Southern Illinois, this afternoon into tonight. The environment expected to be in place will feature low to moderate instability, good to great moisture, marginal shear and marginal forcing. This will lead to upwards of a minimal (level 1) severe t'storm risk across Central and Southern Illinois. Damaging winds and large hail will be the main threats, though an isolated tornado can't be ruled out.

Friday - Friday night recap...
Clusters of showers and t'storms spread across Northern Illinois, Friday morning into Friday afternoon. In the wake of this early activity, some clearing and destabilization occurred. New development of scattered showers and t'storms occurred Friday afternoon, across portions of Southern Wisconsin, Iowa and Northwest Illinois. This activity grew upscale into multiple lines/clusters, which pushed southeastward across Northern Illinois late Friday afternoon into Friday night. Scattered to numerous severe t'storms occurred with this activity, with damaging winds having been the main threat. This activity continued to spread across portions of Northern and Central Illinois in a weakening phase into Friday night.
