(11:00PM - 1/10/19) Evening model runs are making their way in at this time, with little change from the previous forecast update this morning. A major snowstorm is likely across much of the state from Friday afternoon into Sunday afternoon.
Snow is expected to push into portions of Southwest Illinois by later Friday afternoon. This activity will then spread across all of Central and Southern Illinois through Sunday morning, before becoming scattered and diminishing. Periods of moderate to heavy snow will be likely across Central and Southern Illinois during this time. Snow will also push into portions of Northern Illinois during the Saturday morning through Sunday morning.
Final snowfall totals will likely range from 6-12" across much of Central and Southern Illinois. Totals around 12” are most likely in portions of Southwest Illinois, including the St. Louis area. Further north, a sharp gradient will exist across Northern Illinois, with things tapering to little to no snow expected around the Illinois/Wisconsin border.
