FRI-Sun, May 24-26th Severe Weather Threat Update #6

5/24/2019

(10:30PM - 5/25/19) Another storm system pushing across the region will bring another multi-day period of severe weather potential to portions of the state Friday through Sunday.

On Friday, weakening areas of showers and t'storms pushed across Northern Illinois Friday morning into early afternoon. The far southern end of this activity regenerated along the warm front in Central Illinois during the afternoon, producing a small window of severe t'storms. Additional isolated t'storms, some severe, occurred across portions of Northwest and Western Illinois during the evening. Another complex of showers and t'storms then pushed across portions of Northern and Central Illinois Friday night.

Tonight... A complex of showers and t'storms that developed across Missouri and Iowa this afternoon and evening has since pushed into Western Illinois early tonight. This activity will spread across portions of Northern and Central Illinois tonight. An environment in place featuring low instability, good moisture and good shear has been in place. This environment will help support an isolated to widely scattered severe t’storm, which has been already occurring.
Sunday morning through Sunday night...
Areas of scattered showers and isolated t’storms will be ongoing across portions of Northern and Central Illinois Sunday morning, with this activity possible lasting into the early afternoon for some areas. Renewed development of scattered showers and t’storms are likely to develop in the vicinity of a front and outflow boundaries across portions of Eastern and Southern afternoon, which will continue into Sunday evening for these areas.
An environment in place featuring low instability, good moisture and good shear will be in place. This environment will help support an isolated severe t’storm threat across portions of Eastern and Southern Illinois. Wind and hail will be the main threats. Additional periods of scattered showers and t’storms from activity occurring across states to the west will also push across portions of Northern and Central Illinois Sunday night.

Below are the updated TAM severe weather forecasts for each upcoming day of this multi-day event.
