Mon, April 22nd Severe Weather Event

(10:45AM - 4/21/19) A storm system moving through the region will bring the chance for a low end severe weather threat to portions of the state on Monday.

An isolated to scattered shower or t'storm will be possible over portions of Western and Northwest Illinois Monday morning. An isolated strong t'storm may be possible with this activity.

The main focus will be during Monday afternoon into night, across much of Northern and portions of Central Illinois. The environment in place by afternoon will feature low instability, alright moisture and decent shear. As the main disturbance pushes east during the afternoon, with a trailing cold front, scattered showers and t'storms are likely to develop across portions of Iowa and Wisconsin. This activity will then spread into portions of Northern Illinois during the late afternoon, evening and early night period. Given the aforementioned environment in place, an isolated strong to severe t'storm will be possible. Wind and hail will be the main threats, though an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out. This activity will push east across much of Northern and portions of Central Illinois into Monday night, weakening with time and eastward extent.
