(11:30AM - 10/27/19) The first snow of the season for portions of the state continues to look increasingly possible, Monday night through early Tuesday morning.
Model guidance continues to be in fairly good agreement regarding this event. A weak and fast moving storm system is expected to move through the region on Monday and Tuesday. An area of rain will overspread the state later Monday afternoon into Monday night. As colder air filters in, this rain will turn to snow across portions of far Western, Northwest and far Northern Illinois Monday night. Snow will then continue across these areas into early Tuesday morning. While this will not be a significant snow, it will be the first snowfall of the season for affected areas. Final snow accumulations will be on the light side, ranging from a dusting to upwards of 1-3" for affected areas. Below is the TAM snowfall forecast for this event.
