(10:00PM - 5/26/19) Another storm system pushing across the region will bring another multi-day period of severe weather potential to portions of the state Monday through Wednesday.
Monday morning through Monday night... Areas of showers and t'storms will be ongoing Monday morning across portions of Northern and Central Illinois. In the wake of this activity, a warm front is expected to push northward, into the Northern/Central Illinois area during the afternoon. New scattered shower and t'storm development is likely to occur in the vicinity of this warm front during the afternoon across Eastern Iowa and into Northern and Central Illinois. An environment in place featuring moderate to high instability, good to great moisture and great shear will be in place. This environment will help support a scattered to numerous severe t’storm threat across much of Northern and Central Illinois. All modes of severe weather are likely, including a tornado threat. Forecast soundings support the potential for a few strong/violent tornadoes as well.
Tuesday morning through Tuesday night...
An isolated shower and t'storm may be ongoing across portions of Northern and Central Illinois Tuesday morning. Development of an isolated shower and t'storm will also be possible in the vicinity of a front across Central Illinois during the afternoon and evening. An environment in place featuring moderate to high instability, good to great moisture and meager shear will be in place. This environment will help support an isolated severe t’storm threat across portions of Central Illinois during the afternoon and evening. Wind and hail will be the main threats. Additional periods of showers and t’storms from activity occurring across states to the west will also push across much of the state Tuesday night. An environment in place featuring moderate instability, good to great moisture and good shear will be in place. This environment will help support an isolated to widely scattered severe t’storm threat across a good portion of the state Tuesday night. Wind and hail will be the main threats. A severe t’storm threat will likely continue into Wednesday day as well for portions of the state. This will be discussed further in upcoming updates as the time approaches.
