(8:30PM - 11/11/19) In the wake of the departing snowstorm, very cold temperatures for early November are settling in across the region. This period will feature record breaking and historic cold for this early in the season/early November.
Cold temperatures ranging from the teens across Northern and Central Illinois to the 20's across Southern Illinois, have settled in this evening. Low temps tonight will range from the low to mid single digits across Northern Illinois to the low to mid teens across Southern Illinois. On Tuesday, high temps will range from the mid-teens across Northern Illinois to the low 20's across Southern Illinois. Low temps Tuesday night will range from the mid to upper single digits across Northern Illinois to the mid teens across Southern Illinois. In additional to the actual air temps, wind chills will reach into the single digits below zero tonight across a good portion of the state, and potentially across portions of Northern and central Illinois Tuesday night.
While this type of cold is nothing out of the ordinary in mid-winter, it is very noteworthy for the time of year. As was mentioned above, this will be record breaking and historic cold for this early in the season/early November. Daily record low max and low temps will be broken across the state during this period. Additionally, these will be the coldest temps that have occurred this early in a season before for many areas...For example, this period will feature the earliest sub 20 degree high and the earliest sub 10 degree low for Chicago on record. Below are a list of cities and records that are in jeopardy during this period. Some of these records will likely be smashed.
