Location... •Northern & Central Illinois. Timing... •Early Saturday afternoon - Monday afternoon, March 11-13th. Impacts... •Periods of snow will traverse Northern and portions of Central Illinois, early Saturday afternoon through Monday afternoon. Rain will also be possible at times, due to marginal temperatures. •Snowfall accumulation will range from upwards of a dusting-2" across Northern and portions of Central Illinois. Locally higher amounts are possible closer to the IL/WI and IL/IA border areas. •With marginal temperatures, the most efficient snowfall accumulation will be on colder surfaces.

Impacts... •Periods of snow will traverse Northern and portions of Central Illinois, early Saturday afternoon through late Sunday afternoon. •Snowfall accumulation will range from upwards of a dusting-2" across Northern and portions of Central Illinois. Locally higher amounts are possible closer to the IL/WI and IL/IA border areas. •Additional snow showers are possible Sunday night and Monday, which may produce additional minor snowfall accumulation.

This winter storm/snow event brought periods of snow that traversed Northern Illinois. A sharp gradient of light to heavy snowfall accumulation occurred across Northern Illinois.

Observed snowfall accumulation ranged from 4-7" to 6-9" closer to the IL/WI border, to a dusting-1" to 2-5" for areas closer to the I-88/I-80 corridors. •The wet/heavy consistency of the snow caused some isolated occurrences of tree damage.

Recap... •A storm system moved through the region Thursday night through Friday, March 2-3rd, bringing multiple modes of weather to the state. •A line of scattered severe t'storms traversed portions of Southern Illinois Friday morning, with a few reports of small hail and damaging winds. •As dynamic cooling occurred, rain changed to snow for a several hour period on Friday, across the portions of the heart of the state. Final snowfall accumulation ranging from a dusting-1" to 2-5" occurred. •Periods of high winds occurred across much of Central and Southern Illinois on Friday, with 40-75MPH wind gusts common. These widespread high winds lead to widespread tree damage and power outages. •Widespread rainfall totals of 1.00-4.00" occurred Thursday night and Friday across much of Central and Southern Illinois. Localized higher rainfall totals over 4.00" occurred across portions of Southern Illinois. Localized to widespread flooding occurred across portions of Central and Southern Illinois.

With this update we have adjusted rainfall/flood potential across Southern Illinois based on observations, and have adjusted expected snowfall based on the latest information available. Little to no changes were needed to the severe t'storm & high wind forecasts.
Timing & Location... •Severe T'Storm Risk: This morning - Early this afternoon, March 3rd: Southern Illinois. •Snowfall: Late this morning - Late this evening, March 3rd: East-Central Illinois. •High Winds: This morning - Early tonight, March 3rd: Central & Southern Illinois. •Heavy Rain/Flooding: This morning- Early tonight, March 2-3rd: Central & Southern Illinois. Impacts... •A level 1 to 3 severe t'storm risk is in place across Southern Illinois, from through early this afternoon. Isolated to scattered severe t'storms are likely, posing a risk of damaging winds, hail and an isolated tornado. •Snow will be possible across portions of East-Central Illinois, late this morning through late this evening. Snow accumulation ranging from a dusting-1" to 1-3" is possible. •Periods of high winds are expected across Central and Southern Illinois, through early tonight. Wind gusts of 35-60MPH are expected. •Widespread heavy rainfall is expected across Central and Southern Illinois, through this evening. Rainfall totals upwards of 1.00-5.00" are expected in the heavy rainfall axis. Localized to widespread flooding is expected.
