A weak and fast moving storm system will move from the Plains today, through the Midwest and Great Lakes on Saturday, and then into the Northeast on Sunday. This storm system will bring a minor accumulating snowfall to portions of the region and state, early Saturday morning through early Saturday afternoon.

Early Saturday Morning - Early Saturday afternoon, April 2nd ~ Snow Event:
​This the storm system moves through the region on Saturday, it will be accompanied by an area of precipitation. While much of the state will see rain showers on Saturday, with some colder temperatures in place and dynamics in place, snow is expected across far Northern Illinois. Snow will first enter far Northwest Illinois very early Saturday morning. Snow will then spread across portions of far Northern Illinois, before ending or mixing with/changing to rain later Saturday morning into early Saturday afternoon. Snow will vary in intensity during this period, with snowfall rates of 0.5"+ an hour at times. Temperatures during this event will be marginal, making this wet be a wet snow with some melting expected as it falls and accumulates as well.
