Summary... A storm system will move through the region on Saturday, bringing a period of snow and minor/nuisance accumulation to a large portion of the state. Model guidance has been showing this potential for a few days...However, there has been and continues to be a large spread in solutions at this time. With this forecast update we have bumped up expected snowfall totals over a large area. With the amount of disagreement that remains within model guidance, additional changes are possible in future updates.

A area of snow will spread across Northern and Central Illinois, Saturday morning into Saturday night. Across Southern Illinois, a transition zone will set up, between rain and snow. With cold air in place, the snow will be of the high ratio/fluffy variety. What's Expected... Final snowfall totals upwards of 1-3" is expected across a large portion of the state, with amounts upwards of 2-5" into far Western Illinois. Below is the snowfall forecast for this event.
