The main axis of snow is currently moving into Northwest and Western Illinois this morning, with snow expected to spread into much of Northern and Central Illinois this afternoon. This period of snow will last several hours, eventually ending from west to east later this evening and early tonight. Snow intensity with this event will remain light to moderate at times, with snowfall accumulations across the northern half of the state ranging from 1-3".
Further north, near the Illinois/Wisconsin border, snow and amounts will remain on the lighter side. Further south, the same can be said for portions of Central Illinois, around the I-72 corridor, where snow and amounts will remain lighter.
