(12:30PM - 7/11/20) A disturbance moving through the region will bring the chance for severe t'storms to the state, this afternoon into tonight.
Summary... A disturbance will be moving through the region, today through tonight. A weak complex of scattered showers and t'storms has been moving across Northern Illinois this morning and now into early this afternoon. This activity will continue across Northeast Illinois for a bit longer, before exiting into Indiana within the next few hours. Behind this early day activity, clearing and destabilization will occur through the day, with a remnant ouflow boundary in place. New scattered showers and t'storms have already developed with the main disturbance, up in Western Minnesota. This activity is expected to quickly push southeastward through Southwest Wisconsin and Iowa this afternoon, and eventually Northern and Central Illinois late this afternoon into tonight. Additional isolated to scattered showers and t'storms may develop ahead of this main activity as well. An environment expected to be place across the state will feature moderate instability, good moisture, good forcing and good shear. This will lead to upwards of a limited severe t'storm threat across much of the state...With even an elevated threat across portions of Northwest and Western Illinois where a somewhat better environment will exist. Damaging winds, large hail and an isolated tornado will be the threats. Below is the severe t'storm forecast for this afternoon - tonight.
