This snowstorm featured precipitation that began as rain, before transitioning to snow across portions of Northern Illinois. A sharp gradient of light to heavy snowfall accumulation occurred across Northern Illinois.
Recap... •A storm system moved through the region Saturday, March 25th, bringing accumulating snow to portions of Northern Illinois. •A sharp gradient of snowfall accumulation occurred across Northern Illinois. Observed snowfall accumulation of several inches occurred across portions of Northern Illinois, with as much as 10-17" in a corridor across Northwestern Illinois. •Thundersnow occurred at times, with snowfall rates up to around 3" an hour at times, in Northwestern Illinois. •The wet/heavy consistency of the snow caused some power outages and tree damage.
