(1:00AM Sat, March 25th 2023) Early Saturday morning update regarding a storm system that will move through the region through Saturday, bringing several inches of accumulating snow to portions of Northern Illinois. With this update we have increased expected snowfall amounts, based on real time observations and latest weather model guidance information.
Location... •Northern Illinois. Timing... •Early Saturday morning - Early Saturday afternoon, March 25th. Impacts... •Precipitation has developed in the form of rain tonight, and is steadily changing to snow. After transition, snow will then continue through much of Saturday morning, before ending by early Saturday afternoon. •Snowfall accumulation of several inches is expected across portions of Northern Illinois, with a sharp southern gradient to the snowfall likely. •Periods of heavy snow will be likely at times. Thundersnow will be possible at times as well. •The weight of the heavy/wet snow, combined with gusty winds, may lead to some instances of tree damage.
