(10:15AM - 2/16/19) Model guidance continues to be in good agreement regarding the expected snow event for a good portion of the state, from tonight into Monday morning.
A long duration snow event featuring light to moderate snowfall intensities is expected across much of Northern and Central Illinois tonight through Monday morning. Snow will move into Northwest and Western Illinois early tonight, with a bit of mixed precip in Southwest Illinois. The snow will then quickly spread across all of Northern and Central Illinois overnight, then continuing into Monday morning, before diminishing. A period of mixed precip will be likely across South-Central Illinois during the period as well.
Additionally, some lake enhancement is likely across far Northeast Illinois, for counties near Lake Michigan. This could add some additional snow accumulation for these areas, combined with the synoptic snow.
Final snowfall totals will range from 3-6" across much of Northern Illinois, with 1-3" across a good portion of Central Illinois. Below is our updated TAM snowfall forecast for this event.
