(11:15PM - 1/19/19) Lake effect snow has been ongoing across portions of Northeast Illinois into Northwest Indiana this evening. This activity is expected to continue for near-lake areas of Northeast Illinois overnight, before shifting into Northwest Indiana from Sunday morning into Sunday evening. By Sunday evening the wind flow will push the lake effect snow back into near-lake areas of Northeast Illinois from Sunday evening into Monday morning, before completely ending. Periods of moderate to heavy snow and snowfall rates of 1-3" per hour will be likely at times.
Final lake effect snowfall totals of 1-3" are possible across most near-lake areas of Northeast Illinois, with higher accumulations of 3-6" and 6-9" from near downtown Chicago on into far Southeast Cook County, and Northwest Indiana.
