(4:00PM Tue, May 9th 2023) A brief recap of the severe t'storm event that brought multiple rounds of severe t'storm activity to the state, Saturday May 6th through Monday May 8th.
Recap... •Multiple rounds of severe t'storm activity impacted the state, Saturday, May 6th through Monday, May 8th. •The first round of severe t'storm activity impacted Central Illinois, Saturday morning through Saturday night. Numerous reports of large hail and damaging winds were logged with this activity. •A second round of severe t'storm activity impacted much of Illinois, Sunday morning through Sunday night. Four landspout tornadoes occurred in the vicinity of the I-80 corridor Sunday evening. Additionally, widespread reports of large hail and damaging winds were logged with this activity, some of which were significant. •A third round of severe t'storm activity impacted Southern Illinois, Monsday morning through Monday night. Numerous reports of large hail and damaging winds were logged with this activity. •As a whole, the multiple rounds of severe t'storm activity impacted a large portion of the state during this period. In total, four landspout tornadoes occurred, along with numerous and widespread reports of large hail and damaging winds, some of which were significant.
