Summary... A weak and fast moving storm system will move from the Northern Plains on today, through the Midwest tonight, and into the Mid-Appalachians Sunday morning. This storm system will bring a period of accumulating snow across portions of Northern and Central Illinois, tonight through early Sunday morning. Over the past 12 hours or so, model guidance has come in slightly further north with the track of this storm system, thus we have adjust the snowfall axis a bit north. Additionally, mode guidance has also trended a bit wetter, thus we have also increased snowfall amounts a bit across far Northwest Illinois.

An area of snow will quickly spread into Northwest Illinois late this evening and early tonight. this area of snow will then quickly spread across much of Northern and portions of Central Illinois early tonight. Snow will then be likely across Northern and portions of Central Illinois for a several our period of time tonight, before ending early Sunday morning. Snow intensity will generally vary from light to moderate for the duration of this event, with snowfall rates up to or in excess of 0.5-1" per hour at times. Snowfall totals upwards of 1-3" are expected across much of Northern and portions of Central Illinois with this event, with totals upwards of 2-5" likely across far Northwest Illinois.
