(10:30PM - 3/1/19) Update on the snow event that is expected to impact portions of the state this weekend...
Model guidance from continues to be in great agreement regarding the track of this storm system, as well as with the snow axis and amounts. However, this agreement is has continued to change over time...As guidance overall from last night into tonight has shifted well south and much weaker with this system, thus showing much lower potential snowfall totals. Given these trends, forecasted snowfall amounts look much different than they did just 24 hours ago. Given this steady trend of a weaker event, additional adjustments are possible.
Snow will push into portions of Western and Southwest Illinois Saturday night, quickly spreading across portions of Central and much of Southern Illinois overnight Saturday night. Snow will then continue in varying intensity through late Sunday afternoon, before ending from west to east Sunday by evening.
Periods of moderate to heavy snow and 1" per hour snowfall rates will be likely at times. Snowfall accumulations will be widespread across Central and Southern Illinois. Below is our updated TAM snowfall forecast for this event.
