(12:15PM - 3/1/19) Update on the winter storm that is expected to impact portions of the state this weekend...
Model guidance from last night and this morning continues to be in decent agreement regarding the track of this storm system, as well as with the snow axis and amounts. However, this agreement is has changed over time...As guidance overall has shifted south and weaker with this system, thus showing lower potential snowfall totals.
Snow will push into portions of Western and Southwest Illinois Saturday night, quickly spreading across portions of Central and much of Southern Illinois overnight Saturday night. Snow will then continue in varying intensity through late Sunday afternoon, before ending from west to east Sunday by evening.
Periods of moderate to heavy snow and 1" per hour snowfall rates will be likely at times. Snowfall accumulations will be widespread across Central and Southern Illinois. Below is our updated TAM snowfall forecast for this event.
