An area of rain across Southern Illinois has now turned to snow for most areas, with this snow expected to continue the next couple hours, before ending from west to east this evening. Moderate to heavy snow and snowfall rates of 1-2" an hour are likely at times. Thundersnow is also possible, with observations showing some occurrences already the past two hours. Final snowfall totals south of I-70 across Southern Illinois will be 1-3", with an axis of higher amounts of 2-5" likely from Mount Vernon and Marion on east-northeast to the Indiana border around Vincennes and Evansville.
