(1:00PM - 1/24/19) A fast moving clipper system will bring a period of snow to portions of the state from around mid-day Friday into early Saturday morning.
The main axis of snow will move into the Quad cities area and Western Illinois around mid-day on Friday, with snow spreading into Central Illinois during the afternoon. This period of snow will last several hours, eventually ending from west to east Friday night into early Saturday morning. Snow intensity with this event will remain light, with snowfall accumulations across the heart of the state ranging from 1-3".
Further north, snow showers or light snow is possible Friday afternoon into Friday night across Northern Illinois. Further south, snow showers or light snow is possible across portions of Southern Illinois Friday evening into early Saturday morning. Across these two areas, snowfall accumulations will likely only be a dusting.
