A large area of light to moderate snow is spreading across much of Northern and Central Illinois at this time. Periods of heavy snow with 1"/hour snowfall rates are also possible at times. This initial push of more organized snows will last through the afternoon and into the evening, before lighter and scattered snows take over later this evening and tonight. Upwards of 1-3" of snow will be likely across portions of Northern and central Illinois with this initial push of more organized snows into the evening. Rush hour travel will be significantly impacted across the aforementioned areas as well.
