(2:00PM Fri, May 12th 2023) The latest NOAA drought monitor update valid Tuesday May 9th, 2023 shows that patchy areas across Illinois are now experiencing abnormally dry to drought conditions, ranging from abnormally dry (D0) to moderate drought (D1) conditions. The development of drought conditions is a product of overall drier conditions, hit/miss rain/t'storm activity and a less active weather pattern over the past few weeks.
Impacts... •Patchy areas of abnormally dry to drought conditions have developed across portions of the state over the past few weeks, with conditions ranging from abnormally dry (D0) to moderate drought (D1). The next drought monitor update will be on Thursday, May 18th.
