(2:30PM Thur, Dec 15th 2022) The latest NOAA drought monitor update valid December 13th, 2022 continues to show a large portion of Illinois is experiencing drought conditions, ranging from abnormally dry (D0) to extreme drought (D3) conditions. The most significant drought conditions continue to be across Southern Illinois.
Impacts... •Drought conditions across the state were unchanged from the previous update, on Dec 8th. •Abnormally dry (D0) to extreme drought (D3) conditions continue across a large portion of the state. •While areal coverage across the state is widespread, the most significant drought conditions continue to be across Southern Illinois. The next drought monitor update will be on December 22nd.
