(5:00PM Thur, Dec 29th 2022) The latest NOAA drought monitor update valid December 27th, 2022 continues to show a large portion of Illinois is experiencing drought conditions, ranging from abnormally dry (D0) to severe drought (D2) conditions. The most significant and widespread drought conditions continue to be across Southeastern and Southern Illinois. With this update, there has been little to no change in drought conditions across the state.
Impacts... •Drought conditions across the state have shown little to no change since the previous update, on Dec 22nd. •Abnormally dry (D0) to severe drought (D2) conditions continue across a large portion of the state. •While areal coverage across the state is widespread, the most significant drought conditions continue to be across Southeastern and Southern Illinois. The next drought monitor update will be on January 5th.
