(2:30PM Fri, Dec 9th 2022) The latest NOAA drought monitor update valid December 6th, 2022 continues to show a large portion of Illinois is experiencing drought conditions, ranging from abnormally dry (D0) to extreme drought (D3) conditions. The most significant drought conditions continue to be across Southern Illinois.
Impacts... •Drought conditions have expanded and intensified a bit across some portions of the state with this update. •Abnormally dry (D0) to extreme drought (D3) conditions continue across a large portion of the state. •While areal coverage across the state is widespread, the most significant drought conditions continue to be across Southern Illinois. The next drought monitor update will be on December 15th.
