(5:00PM Thur, Oct 27th 2022) The latest NOAA drought monitor update valid October 25th, 2022 continues to show a large portion of Illinois is experiencing drought conditions, ranging from abnormally dry (D0) to extreme drought (D3) conditions. As has been the case the past few months, with this update there has once again been some expansion on areal coverage and an increase in severity of drought conditions across portions the state, with an upgrade to now extreme drought conditions across far Southern Illinois.
Impacts... •Abnormally dry (D0) to extreme drought (D3) conditions continue across a large portion of the state. •Drought conditions have continued to expand in areal coverage and increase in severity over the past few months. The next drought monitor update will be on November 3rd.
