(2:45PM Mon, Oct 10th 2022) The latest NOAA drought monitor update valid October 4th, 2022 continues to show a large portion of Illinois is experiencing abnormally dry (D0) to severe drought (D2) conditions. With this update there has been some expansion on areal coverage and an increase in severity of drought conditions across portions the state.
Impacts... •Abnormally dry (D0) to severe drought (D2) conditions continue across a large portion of the state. •Drought conditions have been expanding in areal coverage and increasing in severity over the past month, due to a generally drier weather pattern. The next drought monitor update will be on October 13th.
