(3:00PM Mon, Sept 12th 2022) The latest NOAA drought monitor update valid September 6th, 2022 continues to show portions of Illinois experiencing abnormally dry (D0) to severe drought (D2) conditions. With this update there was a mix of some drought improvement for some areas and some drought expansion for other areas across the state. There was also the introduction of severe drought (D2) conditions across a small portion of far Western Illinois.
Impacts... •Abnormally dry (D0) to severe drought (D2) conditions continue across portions of the state. •The most widespread and significant drought conditions continue to be across portions of Central Illinois. The next drought monitor update will be on September 15th.
