Sun, April 14th Snow Event Update #1

(11:15PM - 4/12/19) A storm system expected to push across the region this weekend will bring a late season accumulating snow event to portions of the state on Sunday.

Model guidance from this evening and tonight has come in weaker and further south with this storm system, which in turn favors a smaller axis of snow and lighter amounts.

Rain will be ongoing across portions of Northern and Central Illinois later Saturday night and early Sunday morning. As dynamic cooling occurs, the north end of this rain shield will turn to snow across portions of Northern and Central Illinois. Snow will then be possible in varying intensity from Sunday morning into Sunday evening for the aforementioned areas.

Taking latest model guidance into account, an axis of 1-3” of snow is possible from Central Illinois up into Northeast Illinois. Isolated higher amounts are possible. Additional changes in track and snowfall amounts are possible as this storm system nears.
