(11:00PM - 3/2/19) Saturday night update on the snow event that is expected to impact portions of the state Sunday morning through Sunday afternoon...
Model guidance continues to be in great agreement regarding the track of this storm system, as well as with the snow axis and amounts. The only real change this update is to the timing of the snow, with a shorter duration event looking more likely now. Snow originally looked to push into the state this evening or tonight, but model guidance has pushed that back into Sunday morning now...This is also supported by observational trends this evening.
Snow will push into portions of Western and Southwest Illinois early Sunday morning, quickly spreading across portions of Central and much of Southern Illinois. Snow will then continue in varying intensity through late Sunday afternoon, before quickly ending from west to east.
Periods of moderate to heavy snow and 1" per hour snowfall rates will be possible at times. Light snowfall accumulations will be widespread across Central and Southern Illinois. Below is our updated TAM snowfall forecast for this event.
