(12:30PM - 1/12/20) A fast moving and weak disturbance will move across the region today into tomorrow, bringing with it a chance for mixed precipitation across Northern Illinois.
An area of mixed precipitation will develop and move into Northwest Illinois by late this afternoon and this evening. This activity will then spread across much of Northern Illinois tonight, eventually ending from west to east early Monday morning. Snow will be the predominant precipitation type across Northwest Illinois, where int he vicinity of 1" of snow accumulation is likely. Elsewhere across Northern Illinois, a freezing rain and snow combination is more likely, leading to ice accumulation of a glaze and snow accumulation of a dusting being likely. The minor snow and ice accumulation will likely lead to icy roads and travel issues for the Monday morning commute across Northern Illinois. Below are the TAM snow and ice forecasts for this event.
