(8:00PM - 1/12/20) A fast moving and weak disturbance will continue to move across the region tonight into tomorrow, bringing with it mixed precipitation across Northern Illinois.
An area of mixed precipitation has started to move across Northern Illinois this evening, with snow in far Northwest Illinois and freezing drizzle across portions of Northern Illinois. This mix of precipitation will continue spread across much of Northern Illinois overnight, eventually ending from west to east early Monday morning. Snow will be the predominant precipitation type across Northwest Illinois, where in the vicinity of 1" of snow accumulation is likely. Elsewhere across Northern Illinois, a freezing rain and snow combination is more likely, leading to ice accumulation of a glaze and snow accumulation of a dusting being likely. The minor snow and ice accumulation will likely lead to icy roads and travel issues for the Monday morning commute across Northern Illinois. Below are the TAM snow and ice forecasts for this event.
