(11:45AM Sunday - 6/12/22) As multiple disturbances move through the region today and Monday, several rounds of showers and t'storms will impact portions of the state. Given environmental conditions expected to be in place, a severe t'storm risk is expected with some of this activity both today and Monday.
With this update we have introduced a level 1 severe t'storm risk across Central and Southern Illinois, for this afternoon through Monday morning, as the potential for isolated severe t'storms during that time have increased. We have also upgraded portions of far Northern Illinois to a level 3 severe t'storm risk for Monday. This change was made based on new data and increasing confidence in the scenario that is expected to unfold. Location & Timing... -Sunday Afternoon-Monday Morning, June 12-13th: Central and Southern Illinois. -Monday Afternoon-Monday Night, June 13th: Northern Illinois. Impacts... -A level 1 severe t'storm risk is in place across Central and Southern Illinois. Isolated severe t'storms will be possible Sunday afternoon through Monday morning, posing a risk of large hail and damaging winds. -A level 1-3 severe t'storm risk is in place across Northern Illinois for Monday afternoon through Monday night. Isolated to scattered severe t'storms will be possible, posing a risk of damaging winds, large hail and an isolated tornado.
